The operators of the Abe Lincoln Motel in Frankfort, Illinois and a nearby resident are concerned about the potential effects of the widening of U.S. 30, the Lincoln Highway, from two lanes to four between New Lenox and Frankfort.
Plans are underway for the 14th annual Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival in Rochelle, Illinois, which will take place August 19–21. The festival includes family entertainment, arts and crafts, food, a parade, a car show, and much more.
New Lenox, Illinois is a recipient of a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. It will use that money to hire planners to help with planning the reconstruction of U.S. 30/Lincoln Highway through the village.

Michael Bortell, the chairman of the Historic Preservation Commission of Plainfield, Illinois, is applying for a matching grant from the National Park Service to fund a study for a “Gateway Park” at the intersection of Illinois State Route 59 (old Route 66) and U.S. 30 (the Lincoln Highway).
A U.S. federal appeals court has ruled that Canadian National Railway must pay $68 million to fund two underpasses in the Illinois towns of Aurora and Lynwood. The Lynwood underpass will serve U.S. 30, the Lincoln Highway.
The Lincoln Highway, U.S. 30, will be widened from two lanes to four in Illinois between William Street in New Lenox to Harlem Avenue in Frankfort. Construction is expected to start in the summer of 2011.
The Opera House in Plainfield, Illinois, first built in 1889, will be restored to its 1912 glory. The landmark building is along the Lincoln Highway, known locally as Lockport Street.
