A three-day First Inaugural Tour of Lincoln Highway in Iowa began on August 8:
According to State Director of the Iowa Lincoln Highway Association, Jeff LaFollette, this three-day tour has been in the works for the past few years. He said that the purpose of this tour is to promote the Lincoln Highway and to educate people about the road and the surrounding areas.
The annual powwow at the Meskwaki Indian Settlement near Tama, Iowa, first became popular with tourists after the Lincoln Highway was built nearby.
John Putch’s low-budget "Route 30", which has three interconnected stories taking place along the Lincoln Highway from Chambersburg to Gettysburg, premiered at Stony Brook Film Festival in New York on July 19. It will be screened in Gettysburg on September 27.
The Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) will travel the Lincoln Highway between the Iowa towns of Lisbon and Mount Vernon on Friday, July 25.
Bob Chase and Bernard "Buddy" Rosenbaum have finished their cross-country trip across the Lincoln Highway on their Piaggio MP3 scooters. One of their goals was to raise awareness for the Lincoln Highway.
