Kevin Shawver and Mike Kaelin will present their recent survey of potential locations for Lincoln Highway signs along Pacific Avenue, with references to the historical significance of the Lincoln Highway through Stockton.
Lloyd Johnson will give a short presentation on the colorful history and landmarks of the Pacific Avenue Miracle Mile during the Lincoln Highway era.
Some thirty years ago my father loaned a Lincoln Highway sign to a woman representing some form of a Lincoln Highway museum. I am not trying to reclaim it, I am mereoly curious as to its whereabouts.
This was a steel sign, curved to fit a phone pole. Red, white, blue, “Lincoln Highway” at top and an arrow at bottom pointing both directions. There was a blemish in the paint that streched from the blue into the white, perhaps two inches by three. I seem to recall it had two nail holes in the center at top and bottom. It maybe in California near the Bay Area.
