"The Lisbon Herald reported that two young men had been arrested on Saturday afternoon, October 25, 1913, for speeding in Mechanicsville. They were nabbed in Lisbon after the Mechanicsville authorities called west to have the high-flying young guys arrested. They were returned to Mechanicsville where they were each fined $25 and costs. The 1916 Road Guide listed the speed limit through town at 10 mph."
